When I first started Brain Rot, I had no idea what I was doing — I just knew I wanted to do more writing in a space that was wholly mine. I thought I’d blog a bit — which I do — but I also expected to talk more about pop culture and the internet mess you need to have a horrifically dopamine-deprived brain to understand, hence the “brain rot” of it all. But the space has evolved because I’m evolving. I’m less interested in the drama of pop culture than how it can be dissected and learned from (yes, I was a sociology major). I’m interested in growth; I’m interested in new beginnings; more than anything, I’m obsessed with the fact that you can actually start over and pivot and try out some new shit whenever you want to, since no one is going to beat your ass (a reminder, for anyone who needs one.) So welcome to The New New, a place where acting brand new is the goal.
Along with the rebrand comes with my podcast, The New New with Lola Kolade. It’s more of what we do here, chatting about personal development, getting that bag, being sexy, and vibing but with my voice involved — how very fun! I sang alto in middle school chorus, so in a way I’ve been training for this forever.
The very first episode, on the fake ass fear of being seen, is out now. Listen or watch here: Spotify - Apple Podcasts - Substack - YouTube.
Here’s to throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks!
I’ll see you guys on Sunday,
Lola xx
